Pilgrim Hall Museum

Fun, free entertainment and family-friendly activities with free museum admission for everyone. Running from April 16 to 19th, visitors can also expect daily Treasure Hunts for kids and special programs for young learners. All children must be accompanied by an adult. This event series is Sponsored by The Edgar & Pauline Main Family Foundation.

TUESDAY, APRIL 16TH – 2 pm • Life at Sea with David Coffin
Encounter the voices of sailors, whalers, and fishermen with music educator David Coffin in a participatory program that reveals the life they pursued at sea. Sing along on a shanty (work song) as you learn to “HOIST” THE SAILS, “HAUL” ON THE LINES and STAMP AROUND THE CAPSTAN!

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 17TH – HERRING POND WAMPANOAG FAMILY WORKSHOP FOR EARTH DAY
11 am • Honeycomb in a Pot – Create a colorful Earth Day-themed artwork to take home in this family workshop presented by Herring Pond Wampanoag Tribal Members and local artists from the Community Arts Collaborative.
1–4 pm • Wampanoag Workshops
WAMPUM PENDANT MAKING WITH DARIUS COOMBS – Learn about the ancient tradition of wampum making & make your own pendant to bring home!
CORNHUSK DOLL MAKING WITH ELEANOR COOMBS – Learn about corn in Wampanoag life & the artistry of doll making as you craft a cornhusk doll to take home.

THURSDAY, APRIL 18TH – Sponsored by Highland Street Foundation – Pilgrim Hall Museum is part of Highland Street Foundation’s SPRING WEEK on April 18, which features free events across the Commonwealth!
11 am • A Sea Story CHARLOTTE ANNE DORE, ROSALITA’S PUPPET SHOW – Travel under the sea with Miranda the mermaid as she encounters sea creatures, pirates and even Pinocchio in an adventurous marionette show, ideal for all ages.
1 pm • Stories Alive with Judith Black – One of the nation’s foremost storytellers, Judith Black tells compelling, humorous, and riveting original stories.

FRIDAY, APRIL 19TH
11 am • Story Time with Andrea Kamens – Boston-based storyteller and art specialist Andrea Kamens weaves magic in a diverse range of tales that resonate with young and old.
1 pm • Whales, Octopi & Sharks – JACKSON GILLMAN, THE STAND UP CHAMELEON – Storyteller Jackson Gillman brings the world of coastal wonders and sea creatures alive with humor, tales and songs for all ages.
