This episode of “Cocktails with Curators” will feature Assistant Curator, Amanda Wastrom, as she takes us on a revelatory tour of our special exhibition, Let’s Play! New England Toy Stories. Juxtaposing examples from the 1800s, 1900s, and today, Amanda will show participants how toys from the past influence and inspire the toys created today.
Amanda Wastrom is a curator, writer, and artist based in East Sandwich, where she lives with her family, a flock of chickens, an overgrown garden, and some feisty honeybees. For the past fifteen years, she has worked with museums and cultural organizations throughout the region including Highfield Hall & Gardens, Falmouth Museums on the Green, Osterville Historical Museum, Cape Cod Art Association, and Cape Cod Museum of Art. Since joining Heritage in 2017, Amanda has assisted with the care of the museum’s collections as well as researching and designing the museum’s exhibitions, both indoors and out. She is excited for the opportunity to share fun facts she learned, stories she discovered, and insights she gained during her research for this exhibit.
