John Alden was a pillar of the Plimoth Colony. Many people recall the “hopeful young man” that decided to not return to England as a Mayflower crewman, but take a chance in the New World. Most of his story and accomplishments occurred well after the fabled love story with his wife Priscilla. Come and meet a ‘matured’ John Alden as he relates episodes of his life, the challenges of building a Colony, and raising a large family in the New World as portrayed local reenactor Stan Wollman.
The program will be held on Saturday, July 16 from noon to 2 pm at the Alden House Historic Site and continues on select days in July and August: July 22, July 28; August 6th, 19th and 27th.
Alden House will be open for tours and there will be ongoing crafts for kids. Tours are $8 for adults and $5 for kids and students.
Located at 105 Alden Street, Duxbury, the museum is owned and operated by the Alden Kindred of America. For more information, please call 781-932-9092 or visit www.alden.org.
