In this comparative analysis, we`ll explore the complicated relationship between Plymouth Colony’s William Bradford and Massachusetts Bay Colony’s John Winthrop by delving into their personal correspondence and published writings from the 1630s and investigating each man’s unique approach to leadership and community in New England’s earliest decades.

Speaker Bio: Hilary Goodnow is a Public Historian specializing in engaging, immersive, and thought-provoking historic and cultural exhibits, programs, and living history experiences for diverse audiences. She holds an MA in Public History from North Carolina State University and a BA in History and Museum Studies from Connecticut College. She currently serves as the Director of Education & Community Outreach at Plimoth Patuxet Museums (formerly Plimoth Plantation).
