The story of the popular Andrews Sisters group is told through an original storyline written by Beth Gilleland and Bob Beverage, and includes more than 20 of the group’s most popular hits, arranged by Raymond Berg.
Following the lives of sisters LaVerne, Maxene and Patty Andrews, SISTERS OF SWING takes a personal look into the human perspective of the famous sister group as they sing their way to stardom. From their early days on the road, to recording stars, to entertaining GIs abroad, audiences will enjoy the hits that made them a phenomenon of the 1930s and ‘40s, including “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree,” “Bei Mir Bist Du Schon,” “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” and more. Their special sound and story reverberate today as they remain one of the best-selling female vocal groups of all time.
“This is a fun, compelling and eye-opening show for all ages,” says Bob Malone, owner and guardian of Priscilla Beach Theatre. “Everyone either knows of, or has heard the awesome hits and great harmonies of the Andrews sisters. Adding to that is the touching and unknown part of the story these sisters shared on the road to stardom. It’s a step back in time for sure with the swinging sound of a generation that we still find everywhere today.”
With an all New York City-based cast, SISTERS OF SWING runs for eight performances April 29 & 30, and May 3-7 at 7:30 p.m., and May 1, at 2:00 p.m.,
