Franklin was born and raised in Plymouth, Massachusetts, where he attended elementary and middle school. Franklin graduated high school from Gould Academy in Bethel, Maine. At Gould, Franklin played soccer, was an accomplished USSA Freestyle mogul and aerial skiing competitor, and was named an all-conference baseball player by the Maine Association of Independent Schools Athletic Directors. Franklin graduated from Bard College in New York, where he double majored in Film and Philosophy while playing on the Mens Tennis team. After college, Franklin coached competitive USSA mogul skiers in Telluride, Colorado. Franklin then went on to earn a Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of Iowa.
Franklin attended Boston College Law School, where he served as President of the Sports and Entertainment Society and was involved in a number of other organizations, including The Business Law Society, The Intellectual Property and Technology Forum, and The Real Estate Law Society.
Outside of the practice of law, Franklin enjoys going to the gym, skiing, golf, and many other sports.
