The Nye Museum in Sandwich, MA is located at the historic homestead of Benjamin Nye and Katherine Tupper, two English-born immigrants who helped settle the Town of Sandwich in 1637. It was originally built as a meeting place for local farmers. However, today it exists as a historic house museum. Visitors can expect to spend around an hour exploring the property, but there is no limit to how much time you can spend here.
When you arrive at the Nye Museum, head to the Visitor Center at Grange Hall. An associate will be there to greet you and guide you on all the exhibits and tours. Major exhibits include the 1678 Homestead, Grange Hall, the Old Mill, and the Nye Grounds. Admission includes access to all museum exhibits while access to the grounds is free of charge year-round. The museum is open for tours from mid-June to mid-October from Tuesday to Saturday 11 am to 4 pm, or year-round by appointment.
The Nye Museum also offers rental options for private parties during the offseason right at the East Sandwich Grange Hall located at 91 Old County Road, from mid-October to mid-June. Grange Hall features a stage and wide-open gallery with wood floors. The museum also hosts weddings where you can rent the space and enjoy an outdoor wedding ceremony where you can take photos and have a beautiful ceremony.
