The tragic events of 9/11 touched the lives of millions of people – not only across the nation, but across the entire world. The Town of Plymouth was no exception. Plymouth’s  9/11 memorial is set on South Spooner Street, about two miles north of downtown Plymouth, Plymouth Rock and Mayflower II.

A Plymouth citizen began building the original 9/11 memorial outside of his produce store, using his own money. Through community support and successful fundraising efforts, a new city-run memorial was erected in 2004. Its granite pillars stand 6 feet tall and 18 feet wide, engraved with the names of those who lost their lives in New York, Pennsylvania and Washington.

Surrounded by our nation’s flags, this memorial is a touching tribute to everyone affected by that tragic day in 2001.
