Soldiers & Sailors Memorial at Center Park

This monument stands as the focal point of the Town Green (also known as Center Park) in Wareham, Massachusetts. Erected by the town in 1904, the Soldiers and Sailors Monument honors the loyal citizens of Wareham who have served in the French and Indian War, Revolutionary War, War of 1812, and The Civil War. At the foot of the monument sits two Civil War cannons, each weighing between seven and eight tons. In front of the cannons, on the monument’s east side, is a pyramid of 35 cannon balls. Center Park is the location for many of the town’s important speeches and parades.
