Figuring out where to eat is essential to your trip. The last thing you want is to get hangry! So to make the most of your trip, add some international cuisine to your weekend itinerary with these excellent Plymouth restaurants.

Thai

The Mea Thai Cuisine

60 Court Street, Plymouth

On Saturday, treat yourself to authentic Thai food at The Mea Thai Cuisine. One of the owners, Mika, grew up and received her Masters degree in the culinary arts in Thailand. Many of the dishes on the menu come from her family’s recipes that she learned back in Bangkok. Because these recipes are so close to her heart, Mea Thai uses only fresh and authentic ingredients so you’ll get the same taste of home.

Check out lunch combos, specials, and, of course, the regular menu. Dine on stir-fried noodles like pad thai and pad khee mao. Warm up on a cold day with tom kha soup or massaman curry. There are tons of stir-fry and seafood dishes that will appeal to your globe-trotting taste buds. You also have two classic dessert options you’ll want to save room for: fried banana and mango sticky rice.

Make sure you don’t plan to come between 3-4 PM. It’s the owner’s policy to be closed during that time every day to allow their employees to eat and rest. Mea Thai is also closed on Sundays for similar reasons, as they value their employees having time for themselves and their families.

Mexican

Añejo Mexican Bistro

51 Main Street, Plymouth

Craving incredible Mexican cuisine? Check out Añejo Mexican Bistro’s new Plymouth location. With two stories of dining, street-side patio seating, and a plush upstairs lounge, you’ll have a blast whether you’re celebrating with friends and family or just looking for a casual meal with good vibes.

Añejo is open daily for lunch and dinner, and they also feature Sunday brunch. Treat yourself to some chorizo tacos and a margarita. Can’t decide which enchilada you want? Order the tres enchiladas and you’ll get one pork verde, one chicken mole, and one beef roja enchilada with Oaxaca-jack cheese and sour cream, plus Mexican rice and refried beans on the side. Brunch features both American staples like French toast alongside Mexican classics like huevos rancheros. It’s getting the best of both worlds in one meal.

Italian

Mamma Mia’s

122 Water Street, Plymouth

For Italian food with a beautiful oceanside view of historical Plymouth Harbor, Mamma Mia’s is a go-to for lunch and dinner. The waterfront restaurant is open daily; however, you’ll especially want to come on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for the weekend specials.

Italian cuisine is known for its rich flavors, simple ingredients and bold combinations. Of course, you’ll have staples like traditional pizza, paninis, and flatbreads, but the menu is packed with delicious and authentic Italian dishes. Order some bruschetta or papa’s mussels as a starter, then chicken piccata, pasta bolognese, or homemade gnocchi for your entree. Choose from a large selection of handcrafted cocktails to pair with your dish of choice. You’re sure to leave the table satisfied and feeling like you’ve visited Italy.

Brazilian

Rio Brazilian Steakhouse

318 Court St. Plymouth

If you love international cuisine, Rio Brazilian Steakhouse offers authentic, mouth-watering Brazilian meats served right off the barbecue. It’s the best way to experience Brazilian barbecue without a passport. That’s because when co-owners Vagmar Stoffel & Robiano Aguiar arrived in America in 2002, they brought their heritage and churrasco-style grilling with them.

Rio offers delectable cuts of tender beef, pork, lamb and chicken, all slowly grilled over natural wood charcoal to preserve their juices and flavors. Servers will bring over the meat and slice it right there, and you use the tongs to grab the meat cuts you want. If you don’t want just meat, there’s a fully stocked salad bar and other buffet-style food options, plus dessert to finish off the meal.

It’s important to know that this restaurant has a unique service style you should be prepared for. When you sit down at your table, you won’t be handed a menu. Instead, you’ll have continuous tableside service and place cards. The service doesn’t stop until the place card is flipped to indicate you’re full, so come hungry.

If you’re looking to enjoy international cuisine but don’t have a passport, come to Plymouth. You’ll have your pick of incredible restaurants featuring food from around the world. The authentic tastes will leave you feeling full and well-traveled.
