Established in 1726, Kingston is rapidly developing with a major shopping plaza, and the quiet beauty of colonial style homes, cranberry bogs and conservation lands. Public lands owned by the town on Kingston Bay and on Great Pond afford recreational opportunities. This 20.39-square-mile coastal town is located between Boston and Cape Cod. Kingston is home to the longest continuously run boat yard in North America, now named the Jones River Landing. The American Revolutionary War era brig, USS Independence, was built by Kingston shipbuilders on the Jones River and has emerged as a town icon, featured on the Kingston town seal.
