This hands-on 2-day workshop will guide participants through both traditional and experimental approaches to the process. Prior to the first session, participants will email Joshua Brennan the photographic images they intend to explore. In class, Brennan will demonstrate how to translate these photographs using Photoshop to produce tonal imagery that works successfully for cyanotype printing.
The workshop will also cover DIY solutions for at-home cyanotype printing, including how to build contact frames using old picture frames with glass, and how to make simple exposure units from cardboard boxes and LED lights for indoor printing — an essential adaptation for the weaker daylight of winter in New England.
