Also known as the North Plymouth Rail Trail, this trail follows the older section of rail lines of the Old Colony Railroad that continued on from Cordage Park to Plymouth Center used in earlier days. The trail is composed alternately of pavement, concrete and crushed stone, and is generally navigable for strollers, bicycles and wheelchairs.
This hiking trail measures only slightly more than a mile, but it is the gateway to many other hiking opportunities in the area. Walk the original Grace Trail® at Nelson Park in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Start and end at Nelson Memorial Park (255 Water St) on the Rail Trail at Plymouth Harbor.
Habitats and Wildlife – The trail passes through several different habitats including salt marsh, open field, sandy beach, a bramble-filled thicket, and a cliff overlooking the ocean. Trees growing alongside it include oak, cedar, birch, pitch pine and sumac. The entire trail is located within the watershed of Plymouth Bay/Cape Cod Bay.
