The Peter H. Peirce Homestead is home to a highly intact three-story Federal-style mansion. Constructed in 1814 for Col. Peirce and his wife Abbigail “Nabby” Sproat, the structure was the grandest residence in Middleborough Four Corners, which ultimately became the center of town largely through the efforts of Peter Peirce. In 1827/28, the Peirce House was raised up one story, and a wider structure was constructed below, with higher ceilings and elaborate late Federal and early Greek Revival moldings.

The property, located at 132 North Main Street, is owned and managed by a nonprofit which is in the process of restoring its interior to reflect the grandeur of the 1800s.

Off street parking for the homestead is available at the nonprofits’ Peirce Street Parking lot located at 68 North Main Street. Additional parking is available at the town-owned lot on Jackson Street.

The Col. Peter H. Peirce House is in the process of addressing accessibility requirements to support the needs of people with disabilities. The grounds of the homestead are traversable and host various events from Spring through Fall. Additional events are hosted at other locations including the Town Hall and the Peirce Street lot.
